MODHI VILAYADHU

It’s highly expected saran’s movie after disaster’s like vattaram and idhuya thirudan. But this movie too falls short of the expectations. In fact vinay missed the hat trick hit because of this movie. story wise it’s nothing new, the same old story which we have already seen in prasanth’s star.

First half deals with romance between vinay and kajal agarwal, and romance scenes are totally a crap. Entire romance scenes were logic less. Ex: Heroine throws pepsi tin on hero’s head, because of it, hero bangs his car on the tree, in order to compensate the damage, the hero makes the heroine to work as a servant in his home for few days and during that period love blossoms between them.

Second half had a small twist and that alone was good, but again the movie started dragging. And climax is totally artificial and doesnt have any logic. Kalabavan mani as a villain did his usual job.

Acting wise, vinay suited for the role, but his voice re recording looked awkward. Better he should leave the voice re-recording part to another person, and the same in the case of kajal agarwal too. Songs composed by singer hariharan and his cousin was not impressive. Background score was up to the mark.

Santhanam’s comedy was good, especially the naan kadavul and subramaniapuram comedy was too good.As a whole its a boring movie which is not at all worth watching. seriously i didn’t expect this from saran who directed movies like amarkalam, gemini, kadhal mannan etc..

AINDHAM PADAI

This movie has lot of known faces like sundar c, nasar, simran, vivek, devayani etc etc,,so naturally the movie looks so colorful, but the story was not so impressive. Its the same old story which we saw in 1980’s tamil cimena, i.e) family containing five brothers who live together happily, as usual some external villains tries to create some problem and break the family and split the five brothers. In the climax as usual, all the five brothers fight against the villains and join together and the movie ends there.

First half was good, especially vivek carried the entire first half. As usual sundar C did a decent job . But the heroine,in fact i dont know her name. She doesnt look good and doesnt deserve to be an actress. Simran looks bit old, better she can start doing mother role instead of dancing for romance songs in beach. Devayani continued her tele serial acting in silver screen too.

Second half was too slow,, and few scenens seem to be repeating again and again. But again climax was good and credit goes to vivek. Songs was too too bad, it just caused an irritation in our ear drum. The movie would have been good, if the director badri removed unwanted scenes and concentrated on the screenplay. Guest appearance by Radha ravi was good.

Over all its an average movie which can be seen once for the sake of vivek’s comedy and first half, other than that, it has got nothing special. Its a 3 hours tele-serial with some good comedy scenes.

VAMANAN

Vamanan is the first single hero movie for Jai, it released exactly one year after subramaniapuram which was huge blockbuster in 2008. Story wise it doesn’t have anything new or interesting, its the same old wine served in a new bottle.

First half has lot of comedy , little bit of romance,little bit of action scenes and little bit of glamour, but still first half moves fast and the full credit goes to comedian santhanam and urvasi. Apart from that new face priya didn’t get any scope to perform. She just comes for songs and disappears. Lakshmi rai playes the role of a model, though she perfectly matched for that role, her voice was horrible, some other person should have given voice to her during re-recording.

Second half was bit slow, and screenplay was not up to the mark. The audience can easily guess the next scene very easily. And in-fact the second half is just cat & mouse game like most of the tamil movies. sampath and rehman played the villain role and their role was not powerful.

climax sequence was not up to the mark, it was like seeing cartoon in POGO:-), Director should have concentrated in the second half but he missed it.

Yuvan’s couple of songs and re-recording  was good and cinematography by aravind krishna is worth mentioning.

Jai’s performance was good but at times it looks like he over acted in few scenes. He should improve in dialogue delivery and body language.

On the whole vamanan is a movie which can be seen once for the sake of comedy and few songs, apart from that, it has got nothing great which is worth mentioning.

NADODIGAL

Nadodigal is one of the superb movie released so far in 2009. Though this movie didnt had any pre release hype, it satisfied all kind of  audience right from A center to C center. This movie has lot of new faces, but they dont look like new faces, all performed very well especially sasikumar stole the entire show through his natural acting and facial expressions.

Story line is very thin, but the screenplay and the way the movie was shot made the movie different from other masala movies. First half was fun-filled with lot of timing comedies and couple of songs. Last ten mins in the first half i.e temple scene was too good and its something new to tamil cinema. Later in the second half, emotions playing a major part, but still its not like mega serial. Climax was good.

This movie clearly portrays the  importance of friendship and they clearly showed the way by which today’s modern guys and gals use the word called “LOVE”.

The biggest plus point of this movie was the dialogues which was so real and at the same time it was meaningful.Hats off to samuthirakani and his team for coming up with a great movie which has both entertaining aspects and social message.

As this movie is all about friendship, do watch it with your close friends.

This movie again proved that story and screenplay matters and not popular heros, music directors, directors etc. Atleast by seeing this movie, masala movie directors and heros should change their way of movie making.

MASILAMANI

Masilamani is yet another masala movie from sun pictures, starring nakul and sunania. This movie has lot traces of kadhalil viluendhean. The worst part is that this movie has no story. First half is fully dominated by M.S Bhaskar’s comedy. His comedy track was mind blowing. But he tries to imitate all other popular actors of tamil cinema which is something bad.

Second half is usual cat and mouse game. This movie has got few good scenes, apart from that it has got nothing entertaining. Songs are not up to the level except dora dora and divya song.Background music looked very outdated.

On screen chemistry between nakul and sunania was good. But the sad part is that, nakul too tries to become an action hero. Though this is his second movie, he speaks punch dialogues, do superman stunts etc ..Climax and Intro scene was very silly and doest add any advantage to the movie.

On the whole, this is a movie which can be seen once for the sake of comedy tracks by santhanam,MS baskar,karunas. Or better wait for few more days , they will put all the comedy tracks in comedy channels.

Thoranai

First of all hats off to vishal for acting in such masala crap ,, Thorani is the most expected movie for vishal as his previous movie sathyam was big flop, but thorani seem to be worst than sathyam

Story wise it has nothing new,, its just a rehash of all vijay movies like tirupachi,sivakasi,pokiri etc, the worst part is it has all vijay movie villains like prakash raj,kishore etc,,, it was like seeing vijay movie,,and vishal trying to imitate vijay in all the aspects,, but nothing worked out at last

Shriya pairing with vishal for the first time, looks so ugly, it was like seeing black and white movie ,,chemistry between vishal and shriya is zero shriya doesn’t have any role in movie,, she just comes for songs in sizzling costumes, but her skin show doesn’t add any advantage to the movie Better she take her own time and listen to the story first and act in role oriented movies, if she continue to act like this, then soon tamil audience will send her home. Too much of anything is good for nothing,, in the same way if she expose too much in all the movies, after a certain point of time, audience will get fed up. In this case simran was good, she acted both in role oriented and glamour oriented movies in proper ratio, that’s the reason she ruled kollywood for 10 years. I don’t think any actress can achieve her place

Manisharma’s background music and songs were very disappointing, never expected this from him, he was the one who gave decent music for vishal’s mallaikottai. 

Again all the dialogues in this movie is just remix of all vijay movie dialogues The only compensating factor in the first half is santhanam’s comedy track, other than that nothing happens in the first half. Second half is worst than first half,, asusual in the climax all villain’s die and movie gets over…

I feel vishal thinks that by promoting his movies using sexy stills of his co-star, all people will come and watch his movies ,, that is where he makes mistake. During the release of sathyam, he released sexy stills of nayanthara in internet, magazines etc,, now he did the same by releasing sexy shriya stills including lip kiss stills in net to increase the hype of the movie. But the final result is both the movies are flop Hope vishal takes this as lesson and dont do it next time, in case if he do the same next time, then all people will watch the stills in internet , magazines etc and wont watch the movie in theatre:-)

Stars like Ajith , Vijay etc added a tag name like ultimate star, iliya thalapathi etc only after acting in many movies, but this vishal acted in single digit number of movies and added a tag name called puratchi thalapathi and imitating illiya thalapathi in all the movies better he should have named himself as illiya thalapathi part 2 instead of puratchi thalapathi ,,

Last but not the least, advanced wishes to vishal for giving hat-trick flop

SARVAM

sarvam is one the most expected movie of this summer. After naan kadavul , sarvam is a decent outing for Arya. Story wise its something new to tamil cinema, First half has a different story ( usual love story) and second half has different story( cat and mouse game between hero and villain).

For the first time Trisha is paired up with arya,, their on screen chemistry was too good. Special mention should be made about trisha’s costumes in the entire movie, it was superb and acted well as a child specialist doctor.

Child artist rohan acted well, but at times it looked like over acting yuvan songs were already a big hit, but back ground music was not up to the level. niruv shah is the real hero of sarvam ,,his cinematography was too good.

Though movie rocks in the first half, but in second half its dragging and at times few scenes seem to be repetitive. vishnu could have concentrated in 2 nd half

SARVAM is the 3 rd venture from Ayngaran International, though first 2 movies of their production house flopped badly in the box office,but sarvam is an exception to it because its a movie which can be seen once due to various reasons shown below.

4. Niruv shah’s camera work

PASANGA

 

“Pasanga” as the title says,,its a movie about young school going students belonging to sixth stnadard. storywise 

its fully based on the competition,fight between two different gangs belonging to same school. After lot of twist and turn the

movie ends with a clear message that competition is must between students but there should not be any kind of ego or un healthy 

competition between students.

All the people acted in this movie are new and especially those school kids acted well. Afer saroja, veha got a complete trasformation

to a village girl in this movie and performed well.Screenplay was rocking, and not even in a single place it gave place for the audience to go out of

the theatre ,, The highlight of the movie is comedy and dialogues. Even climax looks funny and comedy though it have to be seen as serious scene:-)

James vasanthan’s music was ok but he did really well in background music. Though all technical aspects were handled by new comers, their work was in par with 

well experienced people.

Finally pasanga is a cool movie which can be seen in this hot summer:-) once again Mr. sasikumar(producer of pasanga and director of subramaniapuram) proved that story and screenplay matters in tamilcinema 

and famous celebrities are not needed to make a movie successful.
