KANDEN KADHALAI is a remake of bollywood blockbuster movie named jab we met. Hindi version was a huge hit and almost every Indian might have seen that movie, even most of the tamil audience like me might have seen that movie in CD/DVD with english subtitles. Remaking such a well known movie is a wrong decision but still director kannan didn’t spoil the originality of the script in the tamil version.

Story Analysis:

Story is all about how two person who have different attitude meet each other and fall in love. This type of love story is something new to tamil cinema. Being a remake of jab we met, i don’t think i need to write the story in detail.

Cast & Crew Analysis:

Bharath played the role of a business magnet which was played by shahid kappor in original version. Bharath didn’t even do 10 % of what shahid did in the original version. He just imitated shahid, frame by frame. In colorful t shirt bharath looks cool, but business formal costumes didn’t suit him.The tanglish which he speaks in the entire movie irritated the audience. Tamanna played the role of easy going gal which was played by kareena kapoor in the hindi version. Oh my god, tamanna imitated kareena kapoor in every scene and worst part is that, even the costumes are similar to the original version. Santhanam played a very important role and his comedy was really good and it helped to maintain the speed the screen play.

General Analysis:

First half was the same as original version, i mean frame by frame  (dialogues, costumes, placement of songs) was the same. In the second half, the director tried to make some changes in few places, but it didn’t add any advantage to the script. First half was perfect and second half was too slow in many places. The chemistry between tamanna and bharath was not good, something was missing between them. In hindi version the climax smooch was the highlight but in tamil version it was missing:-)

Music by vidhyasagar is a big let down, none of the song remains in our mind after watching the movie. In the hindi version, songs were huge hit,, but in tamil version????? Cinematography by muthiah is worth mentioning. Dialouges were a biggest drawback in tamil version, its because, the dialogue writer tried to write dialogues same as hindi version so it looked odd in many places,, for example in the second half there is one dialogue like ” naan romba tired a irukiran,, enaku konjam rest thevai  ” . In the same way there are many tanglish dialogues.

I personally felt artist selection for this movie was a wrong a choice , for remaking a blockbuster hit in tamil , i think the artist shown below are correct choice

Being marketed by sun pictures, this movie will do well until another good movie release in the forth coming days.

AADHAVAN

After giving back to back hits (vel, vaaranam ayiram, ayan), Surya is back with aadhavan. But the sad news is that, he couldn’t continue with his hit mania. Aadhavan is a big disappointment from K.S Ravi kumar.When you read the full review, you will understand what actually went wrong in aadhavan

Story Analysis:

Story revolves around the relationship between father and son. Surya is a contract killer, he gets an offer to kill a judge. When he tries to kill the judge, he comes to know that the judge is his father who sent him out of the house long back  due to some silly reason.In the entire movie he tries to act like as if he is gonna kill the judge(father).As usual in the climax surya saves his father from the enemies and movie ends there. It’s 1980′ style story. But now it’s 2009, stories like this wont impress the audience.

Cast & Crew Analysis:

Surya rocked as usual, he did his best. But in some places he overacted. Vadivelu is back to form after a long time, his comedy track is back bone of aadhavan and we can also call vadivelu as life saver of aadhavan. As usual nayanthara comes only for songs and couple of scenes. She looked very slim, but something was wrong with her face, it looked very tired in the entire movie. Thank God , after a long time, she didn’t expose too much.

Vetran actress saroja devi’s role was not powerful and in the similar way, there was lot of known faces in the movie and many don’t have any character. Music by harris jeyaraj was a big disappointment. only couple of songs was good. cherography of varaio varaio song was very bad. I don’t know who is the camera man, he too didn’t do well. Anu hassan acted very well.

General Analysis:

First half was good. It has got some good comedies and couple of songs. Second half was very bad. It was very lengthy and nothing worth mentioning in the second half. Climax was very funny & artificial. Climax could have done better. Screenplay was very bad, can’t even believe that , aadhavan is a K.S.R product.

In the second half flash back scenes, surya was shown as 10 years old boy using computer graphics. It was a good attempt but it didn’t add any value to the movie, since the screenplay and story was not strong. I think in this movie surya broke the long jump record set by vijay in kuruvi.

Producer Udhyanithi stalin and K.S.R appears in the screen after the climax fight. It’s mere waste of time. I think if udhyanithi stalin want to act in a movie, he can very well go ahead, since he looks cool and have lot of money too.

On the whole, aadhavan can be seen once for the sake of vadivelu comedy and couple of songs. Gals can see this movie to see handsome surya. Apart from these aspects, aadhavan has got nothing worth mentioning.

PERANMAI

First of all my hearty congratulations to Ayngaran international for producing such a wonderful movie. Peranmai is a movie directed by jananadhan. This is his third movie and i feel he has a bright future in kollywood. Its a different genre movie for both tamil audience and jeyam ravi. After seeing jeyam ravi as chocolate hero for the past few years,in this movie we can see jeyam ravi in a different role( N.C.C Trainer). And he really suited for the role.

Story Analysis:

A group of college girls goes to a village for N.C.C training. Jeyam ravi takes the role of trainer for that group. There the journey starts. Initially he gives training in the college ground, after a certain period, he selects five girls and decide to give training inside the forest. As soon as they step into the forest, there the problem starts. Initially there will be lot of misunderstandings between the group. At a stage they will face some foreign people, who are terrorist trying enter to India via forest and destroy the satellite designed by India. Finally jeyam ravi and his group of gals oppose the terrorist and save India.Entire movie was shot inside forest.

Cast & Crew Analysis:

Jeyam ravi as N.C.C trainer carried the entire movie on his shoulder. His physique was good and it really added more advantage for his character. The five new faces(gals) played the role of trainee, all looked very natural and acted very well. Music by vidhyasagar was good in terms of back ground music but songs was not good. Cinematography by sathish was good. As i said early director jananadhan did a great job and only few directors like him tries something new in tamil cinema. Vadivelu’s comedy was good and urvasi did a decent job.

General Analysis:

First half was bit slow, and lot of scenes resembled sharuk khan’s chake de India. But after interval the movie picks up and goes very fast. Each and every scene in the second half was good and it made the audience to sit in the edge of the seat till the climax. In many places dialogues were cut by the censor board,that really affected the originality of the script.

ARUMUGAM

Well i don’t like to waste my time by writing review for a crap movie like Arumugam, so I just compared Arumugam with Annamalai in a tabular column.

UNNAI POL ORUVAN

UPO is a remake of hindi blockbuster movie “A Wednesday”. In tamil version, it has kamal, mohanlal playing the major roles. Being a remake there will be lot of comparison between the original version and tamil version. But to be frank, tamil version couldn’t beat the original hindi version due to so many reasons which i will discuss below.

Story Analysis:

” what happens when a common man becomes angry due to various terrorist attacks and decides to take action against terrorism on his own by using latest technologies and other equipments” . This is the single line of the story. Being a remake most of the audience knows the story and screenplay.

Cast & Crew Analysis:

Kamal played the lead role as a depressed common  man, and i don’t need to tell about the acting legend Mr kamal. Mollywood legend mohan lal played the role of a police commissioner, he handled the role very softly and easily. Apart from the two major actors, there are many supporting actors like ganesh venkatram , lakshmi etc.. All the supporting actors did their job perfectly.Music by shruthi hassan was just ok, at some places background music was very high and unnecessary. Manoj’s cinematography was worth mentioning, above all hats off to director chakri for not spoiling the original essence the movie by trying out something different in tamil version.

General Analysis:

This movie doesn’t have any kind of songs, masala jokes, or unwanted superman fights etc.. clean movie with a clear message. Duration of first half was around 45 mins and duration of second half was around 50 mins. people who have already seen hindi version, might just feel bore since, each and every scene was copied including dialogues too. And people who are gonna watch the tamil version directly without knowing the story and screenplay, i am sure they will love the movie.

Hindi version Vs Tamil version:

First of all, story like this is something new to tamil cinema. In hindi version, nazarudhin shah lived as a common man, his body language, dialogue delivery etc etc showcased him like that, but in tamil version, audience see kamal only as a hero and they are not interested in seeing him as common man, thats the only reason,when kamal spoke serious dialogues, audience shouted and danced in theatre, this again shows that maturity level of tamil audience is very low. In hindi version anupam kher played the role of police commissioner, he acted as a strict police man, but in tamil version, mohan lal acted as soft and kind hearted police man which is the biggest draw back. The conversation between lakshmi and mohan lal in many places was unnecessary and its just waste of time.

Whenever a movie gets released under shankar’s production house, then naturally that particular movie will have lot of hype and expectations because, shankar usually gives chance to new comers and gives more important to script and tries out something different. Though his previous venture arai en 305 il kadavul flopped badly, that doesn’t stop shankar to try out something new. Eeram is another healthy product from director shankar’s production house.

Story Analysis:

Following the success of movies like yavarum nalam & arundhathi, debut director arivazhagan tried to come up with a similar type of movie and he finally succeeded. Story was simple, crisp and clear. As usual a gal gets murdered due to selfish activities of few people. After death, that gal comes inform of ghost and take revenge on all the people who are responsible for her death. This movie has a strong social message which was disclosed at the end.

Cast & Crew Analysis:

Aadhi was the guy who acted in a movie called mirugam in 2007. In that movie we saw him as ugly village guy, but in this movie its really cool to seem him as a smart police officer. He is the real hero of the movie.Be it romance or speaking dialogues or fighting , he excels in everything and i am sure he has a great future in Tamil industry provided he choose right scripts.

Sindhu menon performed the role of simple college going girl, she performed well and looked so homely.But she over acted at some places. Saranya mohan acted as heroine’s sister, though she doesn’t have any scope to act in the first half, she did a great job in the entire second half and her acting level seems to be bit matured. Nandha played the anti hero role, and its a great move by him and proved that he can do any kind of roles in order to stay in kollywood.

Music by taman, background score was good and songs was not up to the mark. Cinematographer manoj did a great job and he added all kind of elements which are needed for a thriller based movie.

General Analysis:

First half was too good, it was short and sweet. But the second half was bit lengthy. The director could have reduced the no of scenes in the flash back. Climax was bit lengthy. But still the movie was still enjoyable. The highlight of the movie was the social message shown at last.

Social Message:

” Trust Your Life Partner, don’t care about how he/she was in the past, Just see how he/she is at present and how he/she is going to be in future”

NINAITHALE INUKKUM

Ninaithale inikkum is a product of sun pictures, but they didn’t promote this movie very well. Its a remake of malayalam blockbuster movie named classmates. Though i didn’t see the original version, i cant compare the Tamil version with the original version.

Story Analysis:

Its all about (happiness,love,enmity,sacrifice,revenge) between a group of classmates who study in the same college.

Cast & Crew Analysis:

This movie has three popular hero’s namely shakthi, pritiviraj, and karthick(the guy who used to act as foreign mappilai in all movies). But as per my view, shakthi performed very well and he dominated in lot of places. And he acted well too.

Pritivi raj, looks cool and smart as usual, though he acted in original version, this role is not new to him. Karthick performed a negative role which doesn’t suit him. He is fit to act only foreign mappilai roles, and villain role doesn’t suit him.

priyamani is the actress, as usual she comes for songs and disappears. Again her voice re-recording is horrible, better she ask some other person to dub voice for her in the forth coming movies. I dont know how much the producer spent to buy face powder for priyamani:-) , over make up in lot of places and her costume and gesture remained me the unneala unneala sada.

Music by vijay antony was just ok, couple of songs and back ground score was good.Backiaraj acted as shakthi’s father, after a long time he acted in sentimental oriented role and he did well.

General Analysis:

First half was very slow, it had lot of unnecessary things like useless comedy, item song, etc..etc.. Second half was perfect, the twist in the end of first half was good, and the reason behind the twist was maintained as suspense till the climax.Romance scenes between pritiviraj and priyamani was artificial.But the first half spoiled the entire flow of the movie. So you can see this movie once for the sake of second half.

KANDASAMY

Kandasamy is one of the most expected movie of this year, right from the day it was launched, it created some sensation  and hype among  tamil audience living all over the world. But the question is, does it live up to the expectations??? The answer is certainly “No” due to various reasons.

Story Analysis:

It’s the same old anti corruption story which we have seen in so many sankar movies like Gentleman, Indian, Annian, Shivaji, etc.. But what is the difference between sankar ‘s movie and this kandasamy?? The main difference is, in all sankar’s movie script will be very powerful supported with proper screenplay and flash back. But in kandasamy, they tried to take a movie in par with sankar’s movie by spending lot of money in costumes, locations, and other things,, but they missed to concentrate on the screenplay and storyline.

Converting black money into white money is the single line story of kandasamy. At the end they came up with a message like each rich person living in India should adopt a village and take care of it. It has few traces of ramana, citizen, and many other movies. The final dialogue of this movie is the same shivaji dialogue “Rich gets richer and poor gets poorer”

Cast & Crew Analysis:

Vikram as CBI officer perfectly matched for that role. And he comes in 4 different get ups like Oldman, lady, Rooster, normal CBI officer. All the getups looked nice, but there was no proper reason for putting all those getups and it was like fancy dress competition. Vikram’s introduction scene was very lengthy and it was irritating too due to lot of un-necessary camera techniques. But his mannerism like a rooster was good. But when he comes in same get up many times, it irritated the audience.  The scene in which Vikram comes as a lady and dance for Aishwarya Rai’s song was great. To put in one word vikram carried the entire movie on his shoulder.

Shriya saran,,,, oh my god,, I don’t know when is going to start acting. We all know that she have a sexy zero size structure, for that, if she show the hips and lips scene by scene, it irritates the audience. As I mentioned early, too much of exposing is good for nothing. I think Radio mirchi suchi gave voice for shriya, which was a wrong choice and suchi’s voice doesn’t suit for shriya. As usual shriya comes only for songs and few so called romantic scenes which are not at all necessary for a movie like this. But her belly dance was too good in belaka song. But shriya fans will have a nice time, whenever she comes on the screen.

Comedy track handled by vadivelu was total crap. And in fact for a movie like this, comedy track is not at all needed. It’s just waste of time. There are 3 villains in this movie, aishish vidhyarthi did his usual job, Vijay tv magic show specialist named alex portrayed as mexio is Don is a wrong choice. Other villain is imported from telegu cinema, and he rocked to the core.

Devi sri prasad’s re-recording was good and only couple of songs like belaka, excuse me kandasamy and meenakumari was good. Editing was not up to level. Eghambaram’s camera work was good, but in few places due to many zoom in and zoom out shots, it again created irritation in the audience eyes.

General Analysis:

The movie was very lengthy which runs for 3 hours 15 mins. First half was good and it contained some fresh scenes and couple of good songs. But the second half was very bore and it didn’t contain any interesting scene. In the second half, the story moves to mexcio, it’s a place which is never shown in tamil cinema. The entire mexico portion was well shot and it was stylish but the fact is that, there was no content in that scenes. I think in order to show the richness of the movie, they shot few scenes and a song in mexico.

On the whole kandasamy is a mass masala which can be seen once for the sake of the hype it created for the past few years. And in case if you are a fan of shriya, then don’t miss this movie, you will get full satisfaction for the amount you paid for ticket.

Vikram is a national award winner, and he is capable of acting in different roles, but as far as kandasamy is concerned, he didn’t  get any scope to act or show is talent. And super hero subject can be done by any hero and national award winner is not at all needed to do this role. And susi ganesan, atleast in your next movie try to concentrate on the story and screen play and then you can concentrate on how to waste producer’s money.

POKKISHAM

Pokkisham is an agmark cheran’s movie which released after a disaster named mayya kanadi, But the sad thing is that, pokkisham is worst than mayya kanadi. For this movie, cheran gave so much built up before it’s release and even compared it with kandasamy which is going to release this weekend.

story wise, it’s the same old love story, i think director the decided to direct all his movies in autograph style. First half moves very very slow and and single scene was repeated again and again(i.e cheran writes love letter to padmapriya and she replies back, in case if the letter gets delayed, then jobless cheran waits near post office to receive the letter).

second half was total crap, all of a sudden hero and heroine fall in love, and they decide to get married, and their parents too didn’t oppose it. But there was a small twist in the love episode. All of a sudden heorine and her family runs somewhere, and hero without knowing it, he keeps on posting letters and expect reply for that letters. So he decides to go to the heroine’s place and see what happened to her. when he comes to know that , she left him and went somewhere, again the same stuff comes like sad love failure song. There the love episode ends. The entire love episode happens in 1970.

The last 20 mins was total comedy, as per story, hero will suffer from love failure, due to his dad’s compulsion he will marry another gal . Even after marriage it seems hero will go and search for his old lover and present wife will support her husband to find out his old lover, don’t know how this is possible in real life?????. Hero’s son finds out some un posted letters written by his dad, his aim is to find out his dad’s lover and give the letter to her. Using modern technologies , hero’s son find out his dad’s lover and comes to know that she is living in malasiya. Then he goes to malasiya and hand over the letter to his dad’s lover and movie ends there . I am sure the story and screen play is being inspired by some other language movies. Anyway in tamil, such type of screenplay wont work out.

Music by sabesh & murali – all songs sounds the same and background score was not up to the mark. The best thing which is mentionable is art direction during the flashback part. Acting wise, its usual type of acting from cheran and padma priya as muslim gal, did her job well and she should concentrate on her weight and try to reduce it in the next movie.

On the whole, if you are cheran’s fan, then see it once without any expectations.

Drunk and Drive

Problem:

As per Indian government, drunk and drive is prohibited, but the same government gives permission to open private bars and pubs with well equipped parking areas which helps the people to park their vehicles safely. After consuming alcohol,when drunken babies come out of the bar, our government’s officially affiliated beggars(i.e police man) will be standing outside the bar to charge for drunk and drive case!…

Solution:

Better stop drinking

Or follow anyone of the solution given below

1) Go to bar / pub by walk, drink as much you want and come back home by walk , in fact walking burns few calories too

2) Take a college bag, go to TASMAC shop, buy what ever you want, then go to hotel and buy side dish and stuff the entire thing inside college bag. Come back to house at 8 pm itself like a good boy, as soon as all other people sleep, you can start your own party at home. This in fact saves lot of money and its cost effective too.

3) Once in a while visit friends home who are living with a set of bachelor guys, then follow the solution 2. To add additional kick, play some romantic movie in TV. switch off the light, and switch on the night lamp and have fun

4) If you own a car, better appoint a driver and make him to drive when you come back home after drinking

5) In case if you own a two wheeler, then take some good guy who doesn’t drink with you and make him to ride the two wheeler when coming back home.

6) In case if you have a sweet wife, then make her to prepare side dish, and ask her to mix soda/cola. Drinking inside bedroom is something great and it will be romantic too.

Follow any one of the solution which suits you better and kindly avoid driving after consuming alcohol.
